Oliver Twist opinion

- The children of the orphanage were living very bad, the nutrition, the hygiene and the education; and the punishment was very hard for the children.
- The education was very bad because they didn't study because in the orphanage the good education was limited because they don't have money for all the boys.
- The conditions at the time were terrible because the orphanage was very strict: the children only eat one bowl for lunch, they don't have books, they only have a fountain pen, ...
- The children were very poor, dirtiness, ... because they weren't clean.
- Hi diary, I'm Oliver. I'm very hungry because I was only eating one bowl of rice, and I'm very bored because the orphanage is a shit! I don't like living in an orphanage! I will escape to the city and abandoned the orphanage. And this is our composition about Oliver Twist fil,.

Redaction Oliver Twist

Hello, we are Jesús Fernández and Pau Vilaró, and we will talk about the orphanages in Dicken's times. Our opinion, in that in those times, the conditions were very poor, in comparation of the orphanages of today. In this years, the environment of the orphanages is better, than another years. Today, the orphanages are really good conditions, there are very acondicionanted and are part of the governament of a state. We don`t live this conditions, becouse we live in a family, and in spain, the conditions of the orphanages are really good. I don't like it anything, becouse is a son bad thing of his rutine has a lot of luck becouse a lot of children lie on that buildings.
6.Imagine that you can change things at that time. Mention the kind of things you’ll improve and why.

We’d fix the dirtiness problem that existed in the streets in the Dickens’ time, because we think it’s important to keep the environment clean in order to prevent diseases. Also, we’d want to change the way of living that the little boys had to live; it was too hard, they lost their innocence too soon. The children didn’t have to act as adults but like the children did. The next thing we’d change about Dicken’s society is the work conditions of the factories proletarians: they worked all the day long- without rests of any type, without drinking or eating at all- in overwhelming temperatures and dangerous environments for wages which couldn’t cover all their necessities.
Finally, we’ll change the fake English rich people way of life, based on winning money by torturing the poor ones who didn’t have the necessary to live.

Children conditions at the time

In that time if you were a lucky boy with a lucky parents too, you had a good education in a school, a good diet an other advantages.
But everything can be different if you are an orphan. You didn’t have any opportunity, you must in an orphanage. Place that all the children must work all the day with poor conditions. If one boy  doesn't  want work the responsable person beat the boy until he start working.

Children conditions at the time. Do you think orphans were treated propriety ?

In Victorian ages, the children were living in bad conditions, they had to work very hard in the factories and a lot of hours to earn a low salary.

Sometimes the kids had to steal rich people to survive, for example, in the film, many children were kidnapped from an organization that used the boys to steal jewellery or food in the markets.

Many of the boys who worked in the factories were being subjected to hunger and dangers of the machines of different types of industry, and many of them died.

The orphans were treated very bad in the Victorian ages, their host families gave them the minimum food and had few clothes.

8th February 1879

Dear Diary,
Today I learned how to steal. Maybe you think I’m a bad person but Fagin is a nice man and he steals too. He gives me food and boys treat me so well… I hope I will stay here and I won’t return to the workhouse, even if I’m afraid of Bill. He has a horrible dog, he loves yelling to Nancy and he is more scaring than the “big pigs” with all their money and power. He deserves death and hell.

Tomorrow I’m going with Dodger to the market. I haven’t gone outside yet, I’m thrilled and scared, what if the police catch us and I must return? I’m preying for tomorrow to be an excellent day.
I can smell the sausages! I’m going to dinner now!
See you tomorrow.

the new boy in the school

                                                                                           7th of March 1870.

Dear Diary:

Today I have gone to school at 7:00 o’clock.
In the middle of the first class a new boy arrived and the other boys were looking at him. This child came from another school and already knew a friend of my school, my friend told me that this child was outed to his old school and I am the other friends we talked.
When I arrived home, I explained it to my mother and she said to me that I had to help this boy to make some friends. The next afternoon, when I arrived in the school, I talked to the new boy and I said to him that I would help him to make some new friends, and he thanked it to me. And after that, he started to be a very happy boy.

Oliver's diary

6th of February of 1879
Dear diary,
Today it has been a difficult day. After walking a lot of miles, I’ve arrived to London very tired with my broken shoes. I’m very hungry because I haven’t eaten anything during my travel to London. I don’t know anybody, there are many people that steal here. Some of those thieves have given me accommodation, but I feel bad. I think that it can be better, but it can also be worse. Tomorrow I will leave to find a better place. But I’m not sure that I will get it.
I hope I’ll write you soon.

Oliver Twist

- Do you think that Oliver Twist was properly treated by his host families?

We think that Oliver Twist in his host family was ill-treated because they gave him trush food and they had another son who made Oliver Twist’s life harder than it was, the only person who supported him in this family was the father who helped him but sometimes without wanting, he hit Oliver because her wife ordered him.
The family’s son always saying bad things to Oliver such as: “your mother is a bad woman”, and then he started to hit the boy and it made Oliver’s step mother think that he was a bad boy, that he was a rebel, a bad child,…
We think that Oliver in this family was socially excluded because he can do nothing, he couldn’t talk, he had to sleep under a table and finally they ground him to live like in a prison.

Dear diary

Yesterday, I had a very complicated day because when I woke up, me and my friends from the orphan, we made a raffle to decide who had to ask for more meal.
I losed the raffle and when we were eating in the dinning room I had to ask for more food to the Sir.
Immediately, the Sir. sayed: "Are you asking for more food?", and then he became angry. Then, he took me to another room, we had a dispute and the orphanage's owners decided to expel me from it.
A man who worked for the Sir. took me to a family who adopted me.

Now, I'm in the dinning room of my new house and I'm starving and very sad. I hope they are going to offer me something for dinner and tomorrow I'll be more strong to write more, so let's see tomorrow and let's see if I can explain you good news.

Oliver Twist. Do you think that Oliver was properly treated by his host families?

Oliver Twist was a child who lived in the ninetieth century. He was an orphan with very bad luck because he went to live in a lot of places.
The first place where he lived was in the orphanage where the officers took advantage of children’s poor conditions. They gave them very little portions of food and the children were starving. The next place where he went to was the house of a business man who treated Oliver very well but he had a discussion with the assistant’s son and he had to escape and go to London. On the stayed he was at a very old woman’s house that was very kind with Oliver. The next day he went on his way to London again and when he arrived he went to a house where a lot of Children lived for free if they stole things for the owners.
He was treated very bad there, and one day, he went to steal people on the street but he couldn’t and an old man picked him at his house and there, he lived well, the old people of the house helped him with all he needed.

the working children

We are going to do a description about the parking children. Many people, caught orphan children and bring they them to bad orphanages or workhouses. In the orphanages, the children wark very hard, and the food is very horrigle. They sleep people or more in the same room. They wake up at  6:00 a clock to wark. Dennis and me are very angry with this, because in this type of sitiation the gentlemen don’t respect the children’s rights of the children.

We thinkthat in a family when an accident happens, the best think they can do is to take bring the child to his aunts or grandfathers and grandmothers, or bring the child to you best friend or something like this…

The working children

A lot of children are obligated to work in a lot of countries, because they can’t have access to education, and their families need money to live. They must work in factories with inhuman conditions, they work twenty hours a day, without enough food, and they must sleep in the factory, and they don’t have holidays.
This factories are from famous marcks such as MC’ Donalds, DKNY, Samsung, Coca-Cola…. They use children to work, because they aren’t expensive, because her salary is very low. They’re a lot of ONG that fights against that children explotation, for example: EWE, SOS… But there are too many explotation to let NGO’s succes

London at the time

London in the 18th century was the period where major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and technology had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions of the times. There was an economical increase in London due to the industrial revolution. The society was divided in different social clases. The poor class had the worst living conditions, they had to live in poor houses with rats and dirtiness. It was very hard to live in this conditions, however the aristochratic families and tne rich people lived like kings, they lived i houses that seemed mansions with lot of people working for them. The rich people only stayed in touch with people who had the same economic class and they left poor people behind.

Imagine that you are Oliver.Write a page for your diary.

Dear Diary,

I can't stand more, it is horrible, if I spend are minute more next to Mr. Bumble, I will explode, He's stupid, but he tell is the owner of the orphanages.

Today, I talk to my friends, to didn't them the portions but any friends didn't to talk to him, because is a bad man, and use to shout to all, and we did a raffle to do it, but I losed, and tomorrow during the dinner, I am going to talk to him, it is my oportunity to explode, but he is a terrifyng man and I'm frightened, because it maybe the last time that I shout, and it's for this, that I decide to say goodbye, becaise I can't guess Mr Bumble's.

Seriously, diary, goodbye, I'm ready for all, this situation must come to it's end and the are kids who must order what they must or mustn't do.

Children condition

At Oliver's time, orphans were treated dreadfully by their host families.

They thought they weren't supposed to take care of them like they would have done if they were their own children. They gave them not as much food as they needed, so the orphans were always starving.

They made them work as hard as an adult should work but in terrible conditions that threatened their health and they life.

They didn't even have a proper place to sleep and their host families didn't give them much place to do so.

In many cases, the orphans didn't have the chance to grow up in a regular house, so they had to stay in the workhouses, where they had to work harder, they could eat less food and they had to share everything with a lot of children that didn't have another place to go.

Unfortunately, all the children living in that period of time, excluding the rich ones, didn't have any chances to be safe and happy, as they didn't have any rights protecting them and their daily situations were extremely difficult.

Oliver Twist

The first idea of this critical summary of the movie is very positive:

We are going to speak about these topics:

1.      The chapters’ clothes and the setting
2.    The Working Children

1)    We think that the characters’ clothes were similar than the clothes people wore in those days. Poor people wear old and very dark clothes .the rich ones wear amazing and expensive clothes.
2)   Another topic we want talk about is working children: that’s a very interesting thing because children live in bad conditions: they have to work a lot, and earn no money and eat few foods.
Oliver twist:

We think that the film is good, but there are a lot of moments that we don’t like . We think that the film is so long.
Another think we consider is that the old man is very bad man , because he does thinks that are not good for children who work with him, the old man teaches the children’s how to still things form people , and that is not good .
Another moment that we think is bad is the one when the man hits the grill because she wants to go to the bridge at midnight.

The things that we like are:
·        Oliver is a good child and he doesn’t want to still.
·        We like that at the beginning in the orphanage the boys are friend the, and that is nice.
·        It is very nice when Oliver is so tired and he is ill and an old woman takes driver to her house and she gets Oliver.

                                                                 Oliver Twist
Oliver Twist is a child. In the film he is ten years old. He hasn’t got family, he is an orphan. Anybody wants to know his name. He hasn’t got friends. One day he goes to an orphanage. In the orphanage the food is so poor. The boys in the orphanage play a game, the one who takes the shortest rope, will have to ask for more food. He is the winner so, he is the one who has to ask for repeating. The owner of the orphanage becomes very angry and follows Oliver to hit him. But Oliver can escape from the orphanage.
One day he decides to travel to London. On his way to London, he meets an old woman. This old lady welcomes him home. But he has to continue his travel.
In London he meets a child who is a thief and he steals.
Our personal opinion about the film is that it is an interesting film, it’s OK. When we think on it, we cry. This is the way Oliver Twist makes us feel.

Oliver Twist is an orphan. Oliver was thrown from the orphanage out because he asked for more food and a man hired him to clean chimneys. But in that house, he fought against another boy who insulted Oliver’s mother and he escaped to London. On the outskirts of the city Oliver met Jack Dawkins who offered a place where to stay. Oliver who knew anything about these people, became a member of a pickpockets boys’ band leaded by Fagin.

OLIVER TWIST

Oliver Twist is a film based on an orphan child.
It perfectly reflects the extreme situations that have to suffer the orphan people, however many people, normally the rich ones, bought some them and then their life’s situations changed completely. In Oliver Twist’s case, he became a rich child and started living a new way of life. He used to read under the trees, play every time outside…
In fact, in those days there weren’t as good conditions of health as now. Many people were poor and only a few could do more things than the other ones.
There were different social classes like the privileged people and the non-privileged.

We think that this film shows us the real situation in those days. We enjoy it a lot.

Nerea Sierra;Àngel Lafuente

Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist is a film about one orphan child. The film reflects the orphan’s live and the critical situation that they live.
In the orphanages the every day life is very difficult and in some cases it is impossible the children of the orphanages don’t eat correctly and they are battered.
The rich people bought children from the orphanage and they made these children work to take profits.
Our opinion is: These children sometimes find a new opportunity in the orphanages. When other people adopt them but in some cases these children have a very bat live, and they are battered.

Oliver  falls ill and  Mrs.Bedwin takes care of  him until  he because  there is  someone who loves him.
Finally Mr.Browlow adopts Oliver Twist.

Personal Opinion:
Our opinion is, that film is so dadly because all the time, the protagonist, is suffering and we don't like it. We prefer the comedy films, romantic, action films ...

Oliver Twist

We think that this film is good, more or less. But, when you've seen it more than one time, it starts to be boring, because it isn't interesting enough. The film is very famous around the world and everybody have seen it. The film sometimes becomes boring but the plot of the film is good. It is about a poor boy who is exploited. We had already seen the film and now we've seen it again. We like this film becuase it is a drama. To watch this film in the class makes you become tired because when we see the film, we feel sad. The actor that performing a oliver is good.

Oliver Twist

“Please sir, I want some more”. This is what Oliver said to the managers of his orphanage. They sold him. This scene shows how cruel were people then. If an orphan without anybody able to take care of him goes to an orphanage, it would be normal to think that they were going to take care of him like his family, but in Oliver Twist’s orphanage they didn’t think like that.
Children there had no food, and their managers had plenty of it. This is really bad, because children have to have a good infancy and need someone caring for them. This film is acclimated lots of years ago, when behaving like that was normal, “Oliver Twist” shows people this, in order that it happens anymore.

Introduction of Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist

Oliver is an orphan, and he is brought to an orphanate. There he had very bad living conditions. One day, he asked for more food, and the boss of the orphanate sells him to a funerary man. But he escapes, and decides to go to London.

There he met a band of thieves, and stars working with them.
Some days later, his friends steal one man saw them and the police couch Oliver. In the trial, the man, who saw the robbery, said that Oliver didn’t steal anything, and he adopted him in his house.

Since this moment happened a lot of interesting things but we don’t tell you what happened and the finally of the history because if we explain how continues and finish you don’t enjoy the film.

Oliver Twist description.

Oliver Twist is a poor orphan. He is 9 years old. His eyes are blue and his hair is a mix of blond and brown. He has got small features (the mouth, the nose and also the ears) and he is too thin and small to be the age he is.
He wears poor and ugly clothes because he hasn't got money. All the clothes he can wear are from the rubbish bins he finds or from some people who give clothes to him. Sometimes, Oliver wears a beret and goes barefoot. He is a good boy, his carachter is quiet and he is clever, too. He always do the tings that he thinks are good for the people around him, and he hates the people who talks badly about his parents.

Oliver twist

A boy who is nine years old is left in an orphanage without father or mother. There are lots of slaved children who must eat and survive. Then he runs away because he wants to eat well and live better. Two days later, Oliver goes to a house where he thinks he is going to be ok there, but he is a slave again, and he escapes. Two days later, the boy goes to London walking. He walks for a lot of days and he becomes very tired, but finally he arrives in London. In this city he meets one boy who is a thief.

This film is very slow and we don’t like it because, we like action films and adventure films, and we put a 6 because this film is very beautiful but it is very boring.

Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist is an orphan. The mother died when he is a little boy. He lives in the orphanage in England. In the Orphanage the children work untying ropes. At dinner time the children are hungry. The menu of the lunch and the dinner is soup and bread. In order to ask for more food during the dinner, they put some different size threads in a bag and the boy who took the shortest thread lost the bet.
The purpose was to say to the cooker “I want some more” in the next dinner.
The boss of the orphanage sold Oliver to a gravedigger, but Oliver escaped because he fought against the other boy.
Oliver slept on the street because he didn’t have a house or money. One boy said to Oliver to go with him and his colleagues. Oliver accepted and went with the boy. But in this “family”, they are thieves, because the boss of this family takes orphan boys and teach them how to steal.

Working Children

Children worked a lot of time with little moments for them and they couldn’t go outside. They often worked with  dangerous conditions. The young people were obligated to work in the industries. These young boys didn’t go to the school and that fact made that in a recent future, their bosses paid him so bad.
These young boys needed to  help their families with money because they were very poor people.
The lucky children could learn a job but the less lucky children worked in farms and then when the new jobs appeared they worked in factories where the children made the jobs that old people. couldn’t do
Working conditions were not good.  They worked in places where  old people couldn’t work . Their conditions were very bad because they worked a lot of hours with  dangerous machines and that was a risk for the young people and their education was so bad.
